Treatment FAQs

No. The procedure is done under local anaesthesia, which makes the gums completely numb. You will feel no pain, only the slight warmth of the laser. After the numbness wears off, you will feel a mild, sunburn-like sensation for 24 hours, easily managed with paracetamol.
If only gum tissue is shaven (gingivectomy) in a patient with deep bone levels, minor regrowth can happen. However, when combined with aesthetic crown lengthening (where the underlying bone margin is adjusted slightly), the results are permanent and gums will not grow back.
Recovery is very fast. With laser surgery, gums heal superficially within 48 to 72 hours, and complete tissue maturation takes 2–3 weeks. You can resume your work and normal light activities the very next day.
