About Crowns & Bridges

A dental crown (or cap) is a custom-fitted cover that completely encases a damaged, cracked, or root-canal-treated tooth to restore its shape, size, strength, and appearance. A dental bridge is a fixed restoration used to replace one or more missing teeth. It consists of an artificial tooth (pontic) anchored on both sides by crowns placed on adjacent natural teeth (abutments).

At Grace Dental Care, we use advanced CAD/CAM digital scanning and milling technology to design metal-free restorations. We offer premium materials like Zirconia (extraordinarily strong) and E.max porcelain (highly translucent and natural-looking). Each crown and bridge is custom-shaded to match your surrounding teeth perfectly, restoring full bite function in just 2 quick visits.

Signs You May Need This Treatment

If you identify with any of the following, a clinical consultation is strongly recommended.

Broken or Cracked ToothTeeth fractured by trauma or chewing hard objects that need protective reinforcement.
Tooth After Root Canal (RCT)RCT teeth become brittle and dry; a crown is essential to prevent fracture under biting pressure.
Large, Failing FillingsTeeth with decay cavity too large for a regular filling, leaving little tooth structure.
Single or Multiple Missing TeethGaps that make chewing difficult and cause neighbouring teeth to tilt and shift.
Severely Discoloured ToothA single dark tooth (from nerve trauma) that whitening gel cannot brighten.
Uneven or Misshapen TeethTeeth with structural anomalies that disrupt chewing or smile symmetry.

Key Advantages

Protects Weakened Teeth

Prevents cracked or root-canal-treated teeth from breaking under biting forces.

Fixed & Non-Removable

Unlike dentures, bridges are permanently cemented and do not slip, click, or need removal.

Highly Aesthetic Ceramic

Zirconia and E.max porcelain blend seamlessly, mimicking natural tooth translucency.

Restores Chewing Strength

Re-establishes a strong, comfortable biting surface for normal eating.

Prevents Shifting of Teeth

A bridge fills the gap, stopping adjacent teeth from drifting and collapsing your bite.

Long-Term Warranty

Premium Zirconia crowns come with written lab warranties ranging from 5 to 15 years.

1
Avoid Sticky Foods InitiallyFor the first 24 hours, avoid chewing very sticky foods (like chewing gums or caramels) near the new crown.
2
Floss Under the BridgeFood can trap under the suspended bridge tooth. Use a bridge threader or Superfloss to clean daily.
3
Brush Gums ThoroughlyMaintain gum health around the crown border by brushing gently at a 45-degree angle.
4
Do Not Bite Hard ObjectsDo not use your crowns or bridges to bite ice, shells, bones, or packaging, which can chip porcelain.
5
Manage Grinding (Bruxism)If you clench or grind at night, wear a custom mouthguard to protect your ceramic work.
6
Biannual Clinic VisitsHave your crowns checked and professionally cleaned every 6 months to ensure the underlying tooth remains healthy.

Treatment FAQs

No. The tooth shaping process is done under local anaesthesia, which completely numbs the tooth and surrounding area. You will feel no pain, only mild pressure. Once the anaesthetic wears off, mild sensitivity for a day is normal.
A crown is used to cover and protect a single damaged tooth. A bridge is a series of connected crowns used to fill a gap left by a missing tooth. The bridge is anchored to teeth on either side of the gap.
With proper oral hygiene and regular check-ups, dental crowns and bridges typically last between 10 to 15+ years. Premium zirconia crowns are extremely durable and rarely break.
A root canal removes the tooth's blood supply, making it dry, brittle, and highly prone to cracking or splitting down the middle under chewing pressure. A crown completely encases the tooth, distributing forces and saving it from fracture.
